We all fall down sometimes. It is our duty as human beings to extend our hands and help each other back up.
Nadia is raising money to cover past due utility bills and to turn on her lights. She is in need of $450. She has stable income now and will be able to sustain her utility bills once she pays for her past due ones.
*Her caseworker at the Big Bend Homeless Coalition has verified that her income is above her expenses and that she will be able to continue to pay her rent and utilities on her own after she receives help with these initial bills.*
In March of last year, she was involved in a domestic dispute in her home that forced her to leave with her children. She moved from Bradenton to Tallahassee, which was particularly difficult for her because she just lost her mother and brother. She volunteered every day at the Big Bend Homeless Coalition and eventually secured a job for herself.
She is seeking assistance so that she does not have to worry about how she is going to provide shelter and food for her children anymore. This assistance will help her become independent so that she does not have to rely on anybody for her subsistence.
What would constitute a perfect day for you?
Nadia's perfect day would be going out to the pool or park on a sunny afternoon with her children and watching their smiling faces. Getting this assistance would give her peace of mind about the future so that she can share her perfect day with her children comfortably.
What is your most treasured memory?
Nadia’s most treasured memory is of her mother and the love she showed for her. Unfortunately, she has passed away, but Nadia will always remember her unconditional support and affection. She was her rock.
She feels that if her mother were still around today, she would be having a much easier time in life. Her mother’s death was sudden, and losing her motherly love and influence was like losing her own life. Still, she remembers the cherished memories of her mother today, which help her stay strong for her children.
